ep #1 was recorded live in SBLG in a basement. Apart from a few minor EQ edits the recording contains no overdubs or edits.

.ANGLE.REC. est fière de présenter la première production du projet montréalais LOW END ENSEMBLE.

Après avoir laissé derrière lui les cendres de multiples groupes donnant dans le rock, le progressif, le blues et le métal, Christian Lecompte a rejoint Simon Thibaudeau dans son monde oscillé et bruitistement coloré. C’était la naissance du LOW END ENSEMBLE, qui promet qu’aucun bouton ne sera laissé non tourné et qu’aucun retour de son ne demeurera non entendu. En outre, les deux protagonistes du projet garantissent à leurs auditeurs un grondement qui pourrait donner honte à un tremblement de terre. Simon fait les synthés, les effets, le bruit et la basse tandis que Christian, pour sa part, se charge de la basse, lui aussi, ainsi que du retour de son et du moog. En dehors de ce projet, Simon travaille également sous le pseudonyme KVIK, projet avec lequel il a à son actif des sorties sous étiquettes BRISE-CUL RECORDS ou NAME RECORDS, notamment.

La particularité du LOW END ENSEMBLE tient aux échanges de bons procédés entre les deux sonorisateurs du projet : Christian, par sa formation de musicien ainsi que son habitude et sa maîtrise de styles plus conventionnels et ‘’écrits’’, enchâsse dans une certaine structure les explorations ébouriffées de Simon Thibaudeau, tandis que ce dernier, avec son approche décalée et bruitiste, incite Christian à lâcher son fou et rompre un peu avec la rigidité et le sérieux parfois associés aux musiques plus ‘’composées’’. Partant de là, on pourrait à juste titre qualifier ce premier album ‘’d’improv composée’’ ou de ‘’compo improvisée’’…Des trésors se profilent au hasard des 4 longues pistes de cette première production officielle… Au final, un disque plus atmosphérique que réellement bruitiste à fond. À classer dans le rayon psych/drone organique.

Coming out from the ashes of multiple rock, progressive, blues and metal bands, Christian Lecompte joins forces with Simon Thibaudeau’s oscillated and noiseful world. Witness the birth of Low End Ensemble. We promise no knobs to be left unturned, no feedback left unheard and rumble that would make an earthquake feel ashamed. Simon plays synths, effects, noise & bass Christian plays bass, feedback & moog. Simon also goes under the KVIK moniker, with releases on labels such as BRISE-CUL RECORDS or NAME RECORDS.

The particularity of LOW END ENSEMBLE lies in the exchange of favours between the two sound creators of the project: due to his musician training as well as his experience and mastery in more conventional and ‘’written’’, styles, Christian embeds, in a certain structure, the dishevelled explorations of Simon Thibaudeau, while the latter, with his off-beat and noisy approach, incites Christian to let himself loose and somewhat break the mold of the rigidity and seriousness sometimes associated with more ‘’composed’’ music. From there, one could rightly qualify this first album as ‘’composed improv’’ or ‘’improvised compo’’…Treasures unfold over the 4 long tracks that compose this first official production …In the end, a disc that is more atmospheric than full-on noise. To be filed under organic psych/drone.
